The youngest winner, Sahara Fitzgerald, age 5, of Bayville, N.J., was the top female in the age 1-14 category. was top overall female runner with a time of 21:50 minutes. placed first as top overall male runner with a time of 17:35 minutes. A long list of sponsors and individual donors contributed to the event. Scott Brown Insurance Agency and Stockton University were presenting sponsors. Sigma Alpha Epsilon brought out their volunteers. Miss Shore Resort Molly Marie Pugliese sang the national anthem. Robin Stoloff was Mistress of Ceremonies. Stockton students, staff and administrators were among those who turned out for the event. Brian Jackson, the chief operation officer for the Stockton Atlantic City campus noted the university’s longstanding relationship with Seashore Gardens. The Run & Health Walk started and finished at Stockton University’s Atlantic City Campus. “We run and we walk to ensure that those battling Alzheimer’s and dementia continue to have those programs that make a real difference in their quality of life.”įunds raised will go toward horticultural therapy classes for the Golden Sunflowers, the garden group for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia at SGLC, and to the Music & Memory SM program. “This family of diseases is particularly challenging not only to the residents but to those who love them,” said Scott Brown of Scott Brown Insurance Agency, presenting sponsor. ![]() We care about our residents and this is a way that we can offer that support.” “We work with residents who have Alzheimer’s and dementia every day, with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy,” said Nicole Goodson, SGLC Director of Rehabilitation. Rehab Heart and Sole was comprised of the staff at Encore Rehabilitation, which provide rehabilitation services to SGLC. Dee Kassis brought out friends and family for the first year for Team Naz in honor of her mother who is “living her best life” at SGLC. They brought about a dozen nurses from different South Jersey hospitals. “With the help of the Foundation, we can continue these wonderful activities and other intangibles that makes Seashore Gardens the absolute best.”Īmong the largest teams were the Atlantic/Cape May County subchapter of the Philippine Nurses Association of New Jersey Inc. “Hearing of her Wednesday gardening experiences and seeing the Sunday circle group, with residents talking about past and present topics, is so heartwarming,” said Frank. Frank and Jayne Marascio brought out family and friends for the second year in a row to honor their mother, a resident of Seashore Gardens Living Center (SGLC). Many of the participants were there because of a personal connection to Alzheimer’s or dementia. “As proceeds continue to come in, we are pleased to report that we have netted over $17,000.” “As the first event since the sale of Seashore Gardens Living Center was announced, the tremendous support that we received reinforces the important role that the Foundation will continue to provide in our community,” said Janice Cambron, board member, Seashore Gardens Foundation. The event is the primary fundraiser for the Foundation’s Alzheimer’s disease and dementia programs. The Seashore Gardens Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to enriching elder lives, hosted its 13 th Annual Seashore Gardens 5K Run & Health Walk and 1 Mile Family Fun Run & Walk on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Nearly 300 people hit the boards on Sunday, April 16, to make a difference in the lives of those battling Alzheimer’s and dementia.
